Typically a higher end or corporate image commercial establishes a brand name and has little or no tactical content. It just sets the market position and relative price bracket of the product or service being sold.

It's exemplified by having nobody pitching their product at camera.

THE SKINNY

How AdMasters works

​OKTV has a mandate to air at least 70% original content over its network by the end of 2018.

That's over 126 hours of programming, each and every week.

Original, Authentic programming.

But...

For every hour of TV, that's up to six ad slots of 2 minutes each slot -

which is around a dozen TV Commericals of 30 seconds each (we call them TVC30's for short).

So for every day (OKTV is airing on a combination of "real" (FCC) TV stations, smart TV stations, and mobile platforms,

so there's not such thing as late-night or low traffic TV programs on the net,

it's all Prime TV time) we'll need up to 288 TVC30's.

Sadly, most of these are either the exclusive realm of the ad agency or have been forgotten by the young indie film makers of today, replaced by the video village, 4k post-processing and framing, and "fixing it in post".

 

Sorry, if you're one of those, there's a whole industry you can join in.

Just not here.

We don't do sloppy, last-minute run-and-gun production here.

Nothing wrong with that, it's just that awards get consistently won the other way.

We talk to our advertisers, direct. Make realistic budgets and schedules direct with the advertisers. Put the ads out to our writers to get the best scripts possible.

Take those scripts and prepare everything the old-fashioned way so as to make the production aspects as smooth and efficient as possible.

Which means also as cost effective as possible. No, we won't retire on a commercial, but we won't go broke either, and each and every one of our TVCs can and should be Clio ready.

And yes, we will be submitting our TVCs to the Clio and other international awards festivals. Are you kidding? With 288 of them a week, that's over 14,000 potential chances per year to build an award-winning reputation. Who wouldn't want to do that?

PRODUCTION AND POST

Doing it right. Not again.

The only way that prod and post go smoothly is if prep has swept all the obstacles away before the event.

Especially on short shoots, prep is everything. 

So production and post don't have to do it over and over to fix it again.

Sounds simple, right? After all, making movies is just spending money, right?

Not in our case. Our little movies have to power the entire network, bring our advertisers the revenue they need to pay us to do our jobs and make money for themselves to justify the entire process.

Tall order, for capable people.
